Tanya has an undergraduate arts degree (history, economics and politics), a postgraduate business communication diploma and a successful career in internal communication. She works part-time to help improve the writing capability of a business in the humanitarian sector.
She’s been writing creatively since she was a small child. For the last fifteen years, she’s been learning the craft of novel writing and is focussed on building a career as a novelist. Tanya enjoys writing poetry, short stories, children’s books (picture books, chapter books and middle grade novels) and women’s fiction. She publishes young adult fiction.
Highlights include completing a writing mentorship with Nike Sulway (nee Bourke) and numerous courses, including the selective Writing Children’s and YA with Curtis Brown Creative UK and a year-long Writing for Children with Nicolas Brasch. One of her children’s novels was short listed in the 2019 Affirm Press Mentorship Award.
She’s a member of Writers Victoria, The Duck Pond and The Scribbles Academy.
At their core her stories are about finding the courage, strength and love to empower ourselves and overcome adversity. Her stories have been described as lyrical, gripping with a strong pinch of love and a touch of magic. Or they are about cake, or chocolate – or sometimes both.
